Lately the kiddos and I have been enjoying and soaking up the Florida sunshine by going on lots of long walks and playing in the backyard. Noah and Bella absolutely love the new fence. And I've got to say that the Mama enjoys opening the back door and letting them go out and play. I can see them from the patio or the kitchen window and it's nice for Noah to have at least a little bit of freedom - or at least give him the illusion that he has some freedom ;-)
Mikayla had a bit of a set back at the doctors last week for her four month check-up, but we are working on a plan for her to gain more weight. Right now we're supplementing her feedings with formula, so we will see how that works. We go back on Monday and I am hoping to put her on a four hour schedule then (eating 5 times a day). This has been a real struggle for me not to blame myself for her not gaining any weight. Some days I feel like I need that silly SNL skit where they look in the mirror and say all the good things about themself, but I need to just stand there and say "I am a good Mom, I am doing everything I can for both of my kiddos." They are both wonderful and healthy so I really couldn't ask for much more.
Other than her weight, Mikayla is non-stop. She is of course rolling in both directions still and is constantly chattering away. She loves to talk to herself or whoever is around to entertain her. She doesn't stop moving much and 97% of the time is a very happy easy going baby. Noah adores her and she lights up around him. Another thing to be thankful for.
Noah is getting bigger every day. He has begun talking in sentences, stringing three or four of his words together to get his point across. It's hard for me to think that this time last year he wasn't even walking. We're working on potty training and have been very successful with #2's... At this point I am letting him take it at his own pace and not pushing too hard since he's not two yet. His new favorite activity is golf in the backyard (thanks, Papa Larry!) which keeps him entertained for quite awhile every afternoon. Like a true Florida baby he loves to be in the sun and I think already has a better tan than his Mama!
Grant is good - I don't know what I'd do without him. His work schedule has been a little less hectic so he is home around 6 every night and definitely helps out a lot playing with the kiddos and getting them both ready for bed.
Nothing too exciting to report from my end. I am continuing my work-out regiment every day and am thankful the kiddos like to be outside so we can go on long walks every morning. I'm still working part-time in the afternoons and I find that it has actually become a bit of a stress relief for me since I can get my mind focused on something completely outside of here for a bit every day.
I know I'm not the best at keeping the blog updated now, but I will try to keep up with it as much as I can. Some days by the time the house is 'quiet' and only Mikayla is still up all I want to do is sit down and put my feet up for 15 minutes and not think about anything else, even if it is something like the blog that makes me happy. The two kiddos (and the dog, and the husband, and the house, and the job ;-) ) keep me going non-stop! But hopefully more pictures soon!
