St. Nick Visits Again!

The Florida Gatchel's must have been very good this year, because St. Nick made another stop at our house just now! St. Nick mailed us all kinds of good treats and we just wanted to write and say thank you so much! Grant and I got candy, Noah got zwieback toast and cool light up reindeer socks and all three of us got wonderful snowman ornaments. We can't wait to hang them on the tree. Also, Noah wanted St. Nick to know that he's going to wear his new socks to the Christmas party tonight! Here's some pictures of what St. Nick sent! Thank you St. Nick!!

All kinds of goodies

Mmmmm, candy...

St. Nick is so smart. Grant got faith, I got love and Noah got joy. Perfect!

St. Nick Visit

St. Nick visited our house last night! Noah left his shoes out, and lo and behold, presents this morning! Hope you were good enough for St. Nick to come visit you as well :-)

Harris Friday

I want to have my husband's work schedule. I think he wants to have mine, too, but we're not talking about that right now ;-) He works a 9/80 schedule. Which means he works 80 hours over 9 days, and is off every other Friday. Today was one of those Friday's. I'm so jealous...

On the bright side, we usually tend to accomplish quite a bit on those days. It helps when the kiddo is in a fantastic mood like he has been today. That, though, makes Grant think that I exaggerate Noah's cranky days. If only he was always so happy :) We got to run errands and Grant got part of the lights put up. Apparently that's more of a chore than I thought.

Grant's on his way to a work party tonight, so it's just me and the kiddo for the evening. Arthur and Kristina are going to come over for a movie, so I need to get the kiddo in the bath here shortly.

Don't forget to put out your shoes for St. Nick tonight! On a blog note, I will not be posting tomorrow night as the "Florida Family's" Christmas party is tomorrow night. I will post earlier in the day, though, with pictures of Noah's first visit from St. Nick. Alright, I'm off for now. Enjoy the pictures!

Grant annoyed at me for making fun of how little of the lights he's gotten put up over the past week ;-)

Thank Goodness for Siblings

It's probably a bit of an understatement to say that my siblings and I are tight. Not a day goes by that I don't talk with at least one of them. Sometimes my husband still grumbles that some days I talk more to them than him. (If you throw in the time I spend talking to my mom some days, he might be right. Just kidding babe, you know I love you)

Anyway, I had been thinking about them all yesterday anyway for some reason, and then they episode of Grey's Anatomy just did me in. There were these two young sisters (like 16 and 15, I think) and they had been in a car accident (the older sister's fault) and they were squabbling and yelling at each other. Then, as they're taking the older one up for at CT scan, the younger one shouts "I hope you die" Well the writing was on the wall, the older one just wasn't going to make it.

So of course it got me thinking about my own siblings. Don't die on me, you three! It sucks enough that you're all up in Ohio and I'm down here. And just in case I don't tell you enough:

Sarah: You never fail to make everyone laugh. I'm so proud of the way you helped and "assumed" the oldest role when things got tough with G-Ma and have continued to do so. And here's a big hurray for you going back to school with a plan! I love you!

Shellie: You truly have one of the best hearts. You are always so genuinely kind to people. I know things are kind of goofy right now, but I know you'll figure it out. I am so thankful that my son has such a good role model for his Godmother. I love you!

Scott: Dang kid, you're not such a kid anymore. Every time I see you, I realize how grown up you really are. You always go out of your way to make things simpler for people and to make them happy, and it made me so proud to see you being a shoulder to cry on for your older sisters. I love you!

And, Mom and Dad, thanks for giving me three of the best friends I'll ever have. They can't get rid of me ;-)

Alright, sorry this post went up late but we were with the Kunkle's watching Grey's last night and I didn't get it up before I went to bed. Only a few pictures, but enjoy them anyway!

Stuck in the middle of the week

Today was non-stop. Or at least my exhausted body feels like it was non-stop. This whole week has kind of felt like that come to think of it...

It was COLD this morning! Grant says there was frost on the ground when he went to take Bella out this morning. I know, all you people in the midwest, our chilly morning low is probably warmer than it gets where you are all day, but down here that's frigid. Apparently the warmer temps are coming back starting tomorrow. I'll be happy to ditch the sweatshirt and socks again.

I'm hoping that things are going to be a little calmer the next few days, but I highly doubt it. We need to start getting things around for our trip. I don't know the last time I was gone for such a long period in time. Come to think of it, I think it was the summer between my sophomore and junior years of college that I spent such a long period of time in Ohio. I'm excited about the whole "Grand Tour" that we're doing and am looking forward to seeing as many people as possible.

Alright, I suppose I'm not too interesting right now, so I'll head out. Having a hard time getting it through my head that tomorrow is Thursday already :-p Enjoy the pictures!

Sappy Christmas

Every year I fall for it. I think I'm going to make it through the whole season without crying over some song or some commercial. And then bam - I get hit with it yet again.

Case in point - have you seen the Hallmark commercial with the little kid saying "Merry Christmas"? The mom is trying to teach this little kid to say Merry Christmas, and in true little kid fashion it comes out as a bunch of consonants and vowels all jumbled together into something completely unfamiliar. Then you see her record it on one of those Hallmark cards. Cut to the grandparents opening the card, the grandma listening to the gobbley-gook, and saying "He said Merry Christmas!" Not sure why, but every time I see it I tear up.

Then there's my old standard, the song "The Christmas Shoes" I swear, in high school I always used to mock my Mom when she said how sad it was and that it made her cry. Then one day a few years ago I heard it on the radio and just started bawling. The dang song gets me EVERY time! So just as I was starting to get comfortable this year with the fact that it was 5 days into the season and I hadn't heard it yet. I was in my kitchen today, working away on eggnog truffles, and it comes on. Instantaneous waterworks! Then I turn around to see my son grinning at me, which makes me cry all the harder. Dang it! I'm such a sap!!

So anyway, what is about Christmas that bring out the tears? I don't think I'm suddenly any more sensitive now than I am any other time of the year, but apparently all the company's trying to sell stuff know how to push my buttons! ;-)

Alright, I'm off for the night. Enjoy the pictures :-)

December Already???

Can you believe that today is already the first of December? I can't! Christmas is only three weeks from Thursday! Because of this, we're doing all those before Christmas preparations around here.

Today, we worked on getting the Christmas cards ready. I got everything addressed and ready to be signed before Grant got home. So I'm warning everyone who is reading this now; Noah signed all of the cards himself. OK, he may have had a little help from his Mama, but mostly he signed them :) I know it's probably silly, but it made me so excited to have all four of us on the Christmas cards... Last year, we just put "Baby G" as we didn't know if we were having a boy or a girl, but this year we have an actual kiddo who "signed" the cards. How cute!

Noah's been kind of a handful for a second day in a row. I'm not sure what his issue is. He's been cranky and just wanted to be with Grant or I at all times. If he's not, he fusses himself to sleep after awhile. You'll see what I mean in the pictures :-p

Alright, I'm out of here. Enjoy the pictures :)
