The Florida Gatchel Daily: The need to achieve

So today I continued my need to overachieve this holiday season :-p I tried my hand at making gingerbread for the first time ever. So it was kind of an "easy" recipe, you don't even have to use molasses, but I think they actually turned out pretty well. I've included pictures of my gingerbread men and women :)

I also made peppermint bark. So easy! If you like this stuff, you should totally try to make it yourself. Melt some white chocolate, crush a bunch of peppermints, sift the small pieces out and mix it in with the chocolate, spread it out on wax paper, and push in the bigger pieces on top. Let it sit, then break it into chunks. Couldn't be easier! I'm thinking it would be really good with the green (wintergreen) mints as well. We'll see how long I stay in overachiever mode and if I try my hand at it.

I haven't started the packing yet. I've thought about the need to start packing, but I haven't made it any farther than that yet. I know I've got to do the laundry first, which is probably deterring my decision to start packing. I hate doing laundry. Ever since I worked at Squeaky Clean and had to do other people's laundry for them, I've despised doing my own. Everyone has at least one chore they hate, that's mine. But I know I've got to get to that tomorrow as Daddy will be here Thursday.

Start praying that the weather is clear for us on Saturday and Sunday. It's a loooonnnnggg drive from Melbourne to Fremont; trust me. We don't need crummy weather on top of the long drive with the kid and the doggie.
