One Year!

At six months I came up with the list of things I’d learned so far. In honor of Noah’s first birthday (can you believe it?) I thought we’d continue that tradition…

- Encouraging them to crawl or walk will eventually come back to bite you when they figure out how to do it

- There is no better sound in the world than a giggle

- A giggle is closely followed by the noise a lion makes

- If you’re in need of unsolicited advice, go to Wal-Mart

- For the most part, they’re not breakable

- Don’t put the favorite blankie in the wash just before naptime

- It is necessary to leave the house with at least three types of snack choices

- There are no such things as boundaries for a curious child

- I have never laughed so hard or cried so many tears as I have in the past year

- Mama knows best, but she only knows after she asks Grandma

- Boo-boos hurt you more than them

- Sleep is over-rated

- It is a requirement to sit down and relax for at least 15 minutes of nap time, because let’s face it, it’s the only time I get to myself all day

- I honestly don’t know what I’d do without Grant. Or my family. Or my friends. This is so not a one person job

- Do not put on that super cute outfit until about 2 minutes before you leave the house. And realize that it’s only going to stay clean for about 10 minutes

- The dog sometimes makes a good temporary baby-sitter

- Just as you have to let them make their own mistakes, you have to be OK with making your own mistakes. You can’t figure it all out at once

- It doesn’t matter how many toys you buy, the dog’s toys are always way cooler

- The dog’s toys are followed very closely by Daddy’s electronics

- Cuddling makes everything better

- I can repeat “Rainbow Rob” and “Green Eggs and Ham” word for word

- If you embarrass easily, don’t have a child

- There is no such thing as a “quiet dinner” anymore

- The word no is pointless

- If you need a smile, sometimes it’s best to stand just outside the door during naptime and listen to the conversation he has with himself

- It’s OK not to have all the answers, this job requires on-the-job training

- I wouldn’t change any of it for the world

Happy Birthday to my little boy that I love more than the sun, the moon and all the stars in the sky!

After reading "the list", I can see you're going to do just fine! Isn't parenting interesting? :-) Happy first birthday to you guys, too.
