Big Joe and Little Mac

Alright, so now that we officially "know" that 2.0 is a girl and I've spilled the beans on the name, too, can we just speed up to January and just get her here already? Do I really have to wait another four months? Then again, I'm really enjoying my time with Noah lately, especially since every days he is a little more animated and saying/doing something else to keep me on my toes. Today, every time the thunder sounded he said "boom" at the doctor's office. The kid cracks me up. His new favorite word is lizard (he checks for them on the front window constantly) and it comes out something like "leelard"

We went to dinner and were discussing the findings of the afternoon. Grant's decided he's going to call Noah "Big Joe" and Mikayla "Little Mac" I think it sounds like a future sitcom, to me :-p He seems genuinely excited about having a little girl and things being "balanced" around here. We've decided, for the time being, that once Mikayla is out of the cradle we'll put them in Noah's room together. Part of me would like them to have separate rooms, but given the size of the house, we'd have no room (and probably no furniture) to put up company then. If we lived closer to our families, that probably wouldn't be the biggest deal, but given that we really like them and like it when they come visit, we'll try putting the kiddos in together and seeing how that works.

I know I said I'd post some pictures, but I went back to look at them and they're honestly not that great. Plus I'm not posting the picture that supposedly proves it's a girl. I have issue posting my daughter's girlie parts even en utero. Some things are just not for all eyes ;-) The other pictures are feet which I posted last time and a not really good face shot. Makes her look like a creepy alien. So sorry, no pictures. I promise come January there will be TONS of Mikayla pictures ;-)

I'm off for the evening, then. Have to be up early in the morning to go for the other half of the test that didn't get done a few weeks ago (grumble grumble grumble). Thank goodness for Grant who is staying a little later tomorrow morning to watch the kiddo while I go for this test. I don't know what I'd do without him, good thing I don't have to find out! Until tomorrow...

Introducing....

OK, so stop reading right now if you don't want to know what Baby G 2.0 is. I'm serious, right now. Last chance...

IT'S....

A.....

GIRL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Mikayla Elizabeth Gatchel is due January 20th, 2010, with an arrival date of approximately January 6th via repeat C-Section.

A longer post and ultrasound pictures will be up later tonight, but right now, Grant, Noah and I are going out to dinner to celebrate. In the meantime, please check out the pictures of Mikayla's first present. Her Auntie Sarah made her the blanket below. It is absolutely gorgeous! And it fooled me, because it is the same material as Noah's, so I had no idea she made it. Thank you Auntie Sarah!

Housewarming and Pedicures

I'll apologize in advance for not having any pictures, but I'm not even writing this post at my house. I'm at the Kunkle's with Kristina and Giselle watching a movie, but I knew if I failed to get a post up about the rest of weekend there'd be heck to pay come tomorrow morning :-p

Friday night Grant went to Phil's with some of the gang to watch the shuttle launch. As I had said on Friday, I stayed at home with Noah. And the sleep fairy finally decided to visit and I got 9 entire hours of sleep. Between the massage and endless fatigue, it finally caught up with me and I got some decent sleep. The shuttle launch woke me up briefly (the noise, about 5 minutes after launch) but otherwise, finally some sleep!

Yesterday we went to Justin's for his housewarming party. His parents were in town and we were glad to get the chance to meet them. It was great to hang out with everyone for awhile and "christen" Justin's new place :)

Today we hung out at the house for most of the day until this afternoon when the girls and I went to get pedicures. We're trying everything possible to "encourage" baby Briana to hurry up! Giselle is officially in her last week, and I know anxious to meet the kiddo. As our the rest of us for that matter. Then we grabbed some dinner and are watching the aforementioned movie.

Just a reminder to everyone, that tomorrow afternoon we're making the official announcement about 2.0's gender. Grant and I see the High Risk OB for an ultrasound tomorrow, so here's hoping that 2.0 clues us in this time. We are only posting here, so make sure you check the blog tomorrow if you're curious if we're buying in blue or pink this time :)

A finished project, girl time and a massage

Sorry for no post yesterday, I had to (or desperately wanted to) finish up the last of my major projects. Kristina's birthday is on Wednesday, and I have been promising myself that I would have her blanket done well before her birthday. Five days is well before, right? Anyway, I finally got it finished up last night and was so incredibly thrilled I called it an early night. After an extremely successful nephrologist appointment (it makes me so happy to have at least one doctor that listens to me, believes what I say and acts accordingly) I thought that maybe I would finally be able to kick this week's insomnia in the behind. No such luck... Even though I fell asleep around 10:30, I was wide awake by 2:30, and finally gave up trying to fall back asleep at 3:30 and went out on the couch to watch some TV. So as I sit here just before 7pm, after a full day, I'm hoping that maybe tonight I will actually sleep all night. Any suggestions to beat this insomnia, faithful readers?

It is a Harris off Friday here, so Noah was in a great mood when he got to make a trip to Dunkin Donuts this morning with Daddy for some munchkins. I think the kid would live off of donuts, hot dogs with ketchup and blueberries if I would let him. Then while I worked this morning, the boys played a few video games, then Grant mowed the lawn while Noah napped. You have to check out the pictures I've attached of Noah sleeping this morning. His feet sticking out the bars of his crib were just too cute to resist.

After I got off work, I met up with Kristina and Giselle for a girl's lunch. I am so grateful for Grant's schedule that allows me to escape for a few hours every other Friday afternoon. I know Grant enjoys the extra time with Noah and Noah is so Daddy's boy. After lunch, I headed off to the spa to finally spend my gift certificate from Christmas on a pre-natal massage. Since we've officially made it halfway, I figured it'd be a good treat. Plus, I'm hoping that maybe it'll help with the insomnia a bit. My massage was wonderful, and it got me wishing that I could have one every week for the rest of this pregnancy. Or maybe not ;-) I'll be thankful for the treat, though, and am looking forward to curling up with a book and a cup of tea after Noah goes to bed tonight. As a trade off I told Grant he could go watch the shuttle launch at Phil's place tonight and I would stay with Noah. Considering Noah goes to bed in an hour and a half, I think I got the better end of this deal ;-)

One last funny Noah story to share, then I'm cutting this off for the evening. We've been trying to show Noah how to somersault. And every time we "help" him with it, we get really excited, say "yay" and clap our hands. Well now he thinks he's figured it out all by himself. He bends over, puts his head on the ground, and flops onto his side. Though there is no forward momentum, he ends up in the same position as if he had actually done a somersault. The best part is, that every time he does it, he then stands up, says "yay" and claps for himself. I tell ya the kiddo never fails to keep me laughing.

Alright, looks like I'm in charge of bathtime tonight since Daddy's off for the night. I'm not sure who ends up getting the bath; me or Noah. I'll try to post tomorrow, but no promises as we'll be celebrating at Justin's for his housewarming party and not sure when we'll make it home. Since I've dug out the camera again, though, I can at least promise pictures when I do get around to posting. Until then; enjoy the pictures!

Insomnia and Incompetence

I woke up at 3:30 this morning and no matter what I tried could not fall back asleep. At 5:00am I finally gave up and came out on the couch to watch some TV. I'm not sure why 2.0 insists on kicking me at all hours and then making my brain work overtime. This morning I was having mini panic attacks about going to the grocery store of all things. How am I going to manage the grocery store with two of them? I'm not sure why this thought suddenly dawned on me, but once I started thinking about it, I couldn't stop. Granted, I know it's totally doable. I know Noah can ride up front in a shopping cart and the carrier with 2.0 can ride in the back. No worries. But the thought process that it took me to get that far (it was 3:30 in the morning, cut me some slack) robbed me on any further sleep. It also occurred to me that maybe I should start looking into getting a double stroller. The thought of it makes my stomach turn, but it probably is a smart move...

So after all that drama, I got stuck dealing with yet another incompetent medical related person. My cell phone rang this morning, and it was the imaging center. The guy who claims he's been trying to get ahold of me for three days (they had a digit wrong on my cell phone. They have the house phone, though, which is how they got ahold of me last week. He said that didn't even occur to him. This is about when I started getting really worried) and he needed to remind me about my abdominal scan for tomorrow. I said "what abdominal scan?" He then says "the one Dr. Kearny scheduled for you." Dumbstruck, I ask him who Dr. Kearny is. He answers the doctor that scheduled the abdominal scan. I say, I don't know anything about a Dr. Kearny, that maybe they should call his office to straighten this out. He agrees, hangs up, and calls me back 10 minutes later....

He first tells me that Dr. Kearny's office doesn't know who I am (no kidding!), but this ultrasound was scheduled with my name on it so I need to come in for it. I said, I don't think so! His answer was to tell me that if I didn't come in for the ultrasound that he would have an opening in the schedule and he had to fill it somehow. You've got to be kidding me! I told him that I don't know how my name is on the schedule, but I am not coming in for testing I don't know anything about. I suggested he call Dr. Kearny's office back and find out if they had tried to schedule an abdominal scan for someone else and my name had been mistakenly entered. I then told him if it was a real issue, I had to be there next Tuesday for the other half of my kidney test (grumble grumble grumble, since they couldn't do this right the first time, either) and that if it honestly needed to be scheduled I would take care of it then. What I really wanted to tell him was that he was crazy and that they desperately need to get their act in gear...

I'm beginning to develop a complex about all the goofy things that keep getting messed up medically with this pregnancy. And it really makes me question the medical community in the country in general. Oy vey, the incompetency is too much!

Alright, off to play with the kiddo for a little bit before he goes down for the evening. I'm hoping that I can keep my brain quiet and actually get some sleep tonight. I did find the camera and have added a few pictures today. Until tomorrow, then :)

Morning juice!

2.0's Due date and a growing little boy...

Still no pictures, I'm letting you know up front. The camera is put away somewhere and I have to dig it out here soon. I promise to try to put it on my priority list tomorrow.

Anyway, yesterday we saw the OB. They have officially moved 2.0's due date to 1/20/10. This doesn't mean a whole lot, as they are still planning on doing a repeat C-section at 38 weeks. That being said, we're officially half way tomorrow :-p Everything else with 2.0 was good. We go on Monday to see the High Risk OB, and plan on finding out the sex then as they will be doing another ultrasound. As I said before, I'll be making the official announcement only here on the blog :)

Yesterday was otherwise a fairly quiet day. Today I have been finishing up some of the projects I have been putting off for awhile. Noah's closet has desperately been in need of a good cleaning. But I knew it was going to be a 2+ hour project once I finally got down to it. I had put away most of the 0-6 month stuff before, but still had to reorganize and re-fold all of it. Now all of the 12 month and under stuff is organized, neatly folded and boxed up. Ugggh, what a project. It didn't help that Noah wanted to "help" and his idea of helping was to unfold everything I had just finished up. Needless to say, I'm about out of patience for the day ;-)

We also made a quick trip to the library and managed to clean up the majority of the house as well. Oh, and fold Noah's laundry and empty the dishwasher and.... You get the idea about how my day has gone, right? ;-) I'm exhausted, it's definitely catching up with me.

I think I'm going to wrap this up fairly quickly as I feel like I'm mostly just babbling at this point. Could be the fatigue talking... Anyway, I promise to attempt to find the camera and capture some cute pictures of my little monster tomorrow. Until then....

Olive Garden, Bedrest, Flat Tires, Burritos and Grant's Birthday

Sorry I've been MIA for a few days. And I'll apologize in advance for having no pictures. I was in quite a funk on Thursday night (stupid doctors, grumble grumble grumble) and didn't want to get on here and vent my frustrations. I see the OB tomorrow and I'm hoping to have a long discussion about all the things that have been going down recently. Hopefully we can get things straightened out, order the correct tests if need be, and move on. We're almost half way there!

Anyway, on Friday night we met up with some of the gang at Olive Garden to take in the never ending pasta special they have going on. I don't know why I get so excited about it; I only ever make it through the main bowl and end up taking all of the second bowl anyway, so it's not like it's this fantastic deal or anything. But we went nonetheless, I enjoyed it immensely, and then we came back here with the Kunkle's and Nathan for a bit. We had too much fun listening to the 90's music channel on the TV (Kristina and I knew all the songs) and informing Arthur that Shupak definitely didn't die last year ;-) It was a pretty low key night, but enjoyable for sure.

Saturday we tried to take Noah to the park for awhile in the morning, but it was just too hot! We were only there for about 25 minutes before we threw in the towel. All the equipment was just too warm for him to even play on, and he was sweating profusely when we stuffed him back in the car. I'm so looking forward to about October when it finally cools down again!

Yesterday afternoon Kristina and I went and did some shopping and then went to visit Giselle who has unfortunately been put on bedrest due to the swelling in her feet. She's only got a couple of week left, but I can commiserate with her on her desire to be doing anything but being on bedrest. At the same time, looking back, if I'd have known then (when I was stuck on bedrest with Noah) what I do now, I would have enjoyed that time a lot more than I did. But I completely understand that it's not the ideal situation, especially when you're the one stuck. Hopefully baby Briana will get her act in gear and show up in the next week or so :)

After we left Giselle's, Kristina and I both noticed that the car was making some funky noises. I pulled into a gas station, and we checked the tires, since I thought I might have a flat and that was the noise. Everything looked OK, no lights on my dash, so I figured we'd make it the rest of the way up to the Hals' to join everyone else for dinner. We had just gotten onto US 1, when it sounded like we ran over broken glass and suddenly a warning light came on my dash. Neither one of us had any idea what the noise is, and as Kristina is pulling out the manual to try to figure out what the light means, we suddenly hear "thud thud thud thud thud" and the car's shaking. Definitely a flat tire.... We made it off the side of the road, confirmed that's what it was, pulled up about 50 feet into the parking lot of a bar and called the boys. Since we were only a few miles from the Hals' they made it over rather quickly and Grant, Arthur and Phil very efficiently changed the flat. And the tire in the back was even a full tire, so we didn't have to rush off to get a new tire today. It looks like I had a roofing tack stuck in the front tire and it's patchable. We'll take the car in this week to make sure everything else is A-OK, but thank goodness the boys were able to come rescue the damsels in distress.

Tire fixed, we headed up to the Hals' for some fabulous burritos and hanging out with everyone. We made it 'til about 11 before Grant and I were absolutely exhausted and headed home. It feels weird to be the first ones to usually call it a night, but I know Noah sleeps better in his own bed rather than the pack and play, and honestly after a day full of running around chasing him, I'm almost always exhausted by 11! That kid wears me out!

Today is Grant's 27th birthday, so I got up and made him a big breakfast, and we've just spent the majority of the day hanging out and playing with the kiddo. He got a gift card from the gang to get a new lawn mower, so I know he's been doing some research on that this afternoon. I'll just be glad when it doesn't look like our house is one of the many foreclosures in the neighborhood due to the grass being so high ;-)

Alright, enough of my babbling. Still have some things to do before the weekend officially ends, so I'm going to wrap this up. We'll have a Baby G 2.0 update tomorrow, and hopefully some pictures. Until tomorrow, hope everyone had a good weekend!

Kristi vs. The Doctors Offices...

Remember how earlier this week I mentioned that it was going to be an extremely busy week and that we had lots of running around with certain doctor related stuff? Today it all came to a head when apparently my calendar or karma or something decided to catch up with me. Fortunately, I must not have been too awful because eventually it all managed to work out.

I was getting Noah ready to head out the door shortly after lunch (no small feat when you see the ketchup monster pictures below, trust me) when the phone rings. It's the ultrasound place, calling to remind me that Dr. Foster (the OB) wanted to schedule a kidney ultrasound. I said, yes, I know it's tomorrow at 2pm. The girl says, no it's not, it's on Friday at 2pm. I said no, I had confirmed it twice with my OB's office because as I had a little one I had to arrange to have someone meet me in order for me to take this test. ( I really wanted to add that it was a useless test the High Risk OB had ordered to rule out something I already knew I didn't have, but didn't think that I needed to take it out on this poor girl from the imagine center...) Anyway, she says she's really sorry that the OB's office miscommunicated the date to me. I told her that was all well and good, but I couldn't do Friday. She offered me tomorrow, a little bit earlier than the original appointment, and fortunately Grant's still able to meet me and watch Noah during the silly test. I thanked her (it wasn't her fault) and then told her it was a really good thing she had called because otherwise I would have shown up tomorrow at the original time and not have been happy at all if I couldn't get in. One crisis averted.

So I pack Noah up, and we head up to the pediatrician's office. I had grabbed the little card with the appointment time written on it to bring with me as I was a little surprised they had never called to confirm the time of the appointment. Usually they call a couple days before to remind me. Fortunately, not only do I actually write the times on my calendar, I always keep all the little cards and stick them on my cork board. (It's gotten very crowded as of late, let me tell you...) Anyway, we get there, I sign in, Noah's off playing. They ask me my name not once, but twice. She then says, I don't have an appointment for Noah today. Argggggg.... I pulled out my handy little card to prove to her I'm not crazy and she mumbles something about the computer not registering the appointment. I (calmly) asked her if we would have to reschedule, and after a quick conference with the nurses, they were still able to get Noah in this afternoon during the original appointment time. Thank goodness! But between that and the imaging center, I'm beginning to think that someone is out to get me. That or maybe I really am losing my mind.

So Noah is a healthy growing boy. He's currently 32 inches tall and 23 lbs 2 ounces., which puts him in the 75th percentile for his height and 30th for his weight. I mentioned his eating habits of late, and she said she wouldn't be surprised if he shoots up another inch or so here in the next few weeks. Otherwise, he looked great, no problems to report, and isn't he cute! I begged her not to say that to him because I am convinced he knows what it means. I told her about Noah and the dog ganging up on me and she just laughed. I told her it was my theory that come the next one I'm totally screwed and she just kind of smiled and nodded at me. Just the kind of reassurance I needed :-p My mom even said the same thing!

Alright, I'm feeling really exhausted and a little overwhelmed, so I'm going to cut this off for the night. I think between all of the stuff going on this week, it's really starting to catch up with me. I could really use a few hours off ;-) Alright, off to wrestle with the kid for a bit. Until tomorrow; enjoy the pictures!

Rawr, ketchup monster!

15 months and still going strong

The things that Noah does or gets into lately never fails to keep me giggling. And sometimes it is just as hard NOT to laugh. Right now he's chasing Bella around the house making the kiss noise at her. He wants doggie kisses, apparently. Eventually Bella will give in when Noah gives up and go and attack him when he's least expecting it. Those two are quite the pair.

Today was laundry day at the Gatchel house. Sigh, laundry is my least favorite of all the household chores. I think it is because it never seems to end! Even when you get all finished, everything put away in its place and hung up, suddenly the basket has the clothes everyone wore that day in it, and the laundry doesn't seem complete anymore. I guess the same is true to some degree with all housework, but the laundry just doesn't have the same satisfaction level, I guess.

I think the kiddo might be going through a growth spurt. This morning he ate a waffle, a banana and two handfuls of Cheerios. Twenty minutes later he was back in my face making the food sign again! Then for lunch he ate an entire hot dog (with ketchup, thank you so much, Uncle Scott!) and two handfuls of blueberries. I walked to his room after his nap and the first thing he did was make the food sign. And for dinner he ate a quarter of a chicken breast, a mini egg roll and some of Grant's lo mein noodles. A bottomless pit the kid has become lately!! I'm beginning to worry about my ability to keep him fed and happy in the future :-p

Alright, I feel like I should go rescue someone, not sure which of the three of them it's going to be. Probably the dog ;-) Anyway, will have the latest Noah updates tomorrow after his doctor's appointment. I'm planning on them telling me he's huge ;-) Until tomorrow; enjoy the pictures!

Lunch time with Noah

August 17, 2009

So this week is already looking like it's going to be a full one. Apparently it's doctor and lab week here at the Gatchel's. And somewhere in the midst of all that, I guess the house still needs to be picked up, Noah played with, the dog kept happy and all the rest of the stuff that needs to get done around here on a daily basis.

Today I ran up to the OB's office with the kiddo, picked up an order for additional bloodwork and then ran to the lab. Apparently they're now testing for Connective Tissue Disease. Who knows, I think the High Risk OB is grasping at straws, but what do I know. Plus I had to have labs drawn for the nephro, so we took care of two labs at one time. A good thing too since the lab changed it's policy and now has a $10 co-pay for every lab visit. Considering how often I'm there, I'm not exactly thrilled about that one...

On our way home we had to make a quick stop at the store for blueberries. Noah is obsessed with blueberries lately. I suppose there are worse foods that he could love. And I figured that since I was at the store, I could take care of my latest craving; radishes. But alas - no radishes! What kind of supermarket doesn't carry radishses??? I was heart broken, and I'm thinking that I might have to send Grant out in a bit to find me some radishes...

Major congrats to Arthur on his promotion! We were glad to see that Harris finally recognized how much hard work he puts in :)

Alright, Noah is literally climbing up the side of me right now, so I suppose I should go and play with him for a bit. Grant's making up answers to Jeopardy and who knows what Bella's gotten herself into. My baby is going to be 15 months tomorrow - can you believe it? Until tomorrow then; enjoy the pictures!

Weekend Fun

We had such a great weekend here! Noah especially, I think :-p Yesterday we headed to Phil's condo on the beach. How great to have access to a strip of beach all to yourself! Plus it is just a little further south than where we usually go to the beach, so that was nice, too. The surf was honestly the roughest I have seen it not during a storm. The beach actually ended abruptly to about an 18 inch drop off where the waves had pounded it away. So Noah and I stayed out of the water (he's still not too sure about the ocean and sand, anyway) but had fun sitting on the beach. Would've been that much better if it wasn't hot, I have to admit. Poor Noah was sweating like a fool.

Yet another great thing about going to Phil's, though was that we also had access to the pool :) So after awhile of battling the sun and waves, we all headed up to the pool for a swim. Noah was in seventh heaven and really enjoyed playing in the pool. Even I got in on the pool action :) After hanging out with everyone for a few hours, we came home and hang out by ourselves last night.

Today we've mostly been hanging out, but did manage to make a quick trip to Sam's Club. I had been promising Noah we'd go and get Goldfish. So we got there, and I looked at Grant and said "OK, what do we need here?" and without missing a beat, Noah is making the fish noise at me! The kid knew exactly what we were there for!! I swear he's too smart for his own good some days. We got home and he was playing with Bella (who he calls Ella, and all dogs are "gee" for doggy) and I was trying to make Bella sit so that he could play with him. So looking at the dog, I say "Sit." She looks at me like I'm nuts, but beside her, Noah plops down and looks at me like "OK Mom, now what?" What a card the kid is! The better part was when we were laughing so hard at him, he then looked at Bella and told her to sit - and she listened to him. I'm beginning to wonder if they are literally ganging up against me some days...

Alright, a little bit longer to play with the kiddo before he's off to bed. I only managed to take a few pictures at the beach yesterday since we were having so much fun, so you'll just have to enjoy what I managed to take :) Until tomorrow; enjoy the pictures!
The beach and raisins, how does it get any better?

Noah Rocks Out

Yesterday we went up to Beth and Dan's because rumor had it that the boys were going to try to accomplish the endless song set on Rock Band (slight eye roll from the author). I like to play one or two songs, but 84, really? Anyway, we headed up there to hang out with everyone and support the madness ;-)

Little did we know that we apparently have a little rocker in the making! Noah has already shown a great interest in the drums (that was not an invitation to anyone reading this for a next birthday or Christmas idea, by the way) but last night he was also singing along and all around rocking. He thought the reverb from the microphone was really cool and kept picking it up just to say "Ahhhhh" And apparently his new favorite song is "Psycho Killer" by the Talking Heads. (Lovely, I know) But he sang along with Aunt Beth on the "fa fa fa's" and "run run run" It was really funny! Grant took some video last night, but they were a little dark so he's going to try to clean them up. Keep an eye out for a post later with Noah the Rock Star.

We're thinking about heading off to the beach today for a bit, so that should be fun. Otherwise, no major plans for the weekend. Weekends like that are fun :) Noah turns 15 (!!!) months on Tuesday and sees the pediatrician for his check-up on Wednesday. And apparently I have to go have an ultrasound on my kidneys on Thursday. And more bloodwork on Monday. Ridiculous new High Risk OB (grumble grumble grumble) This time they're ruling out renal stenosis and connective tissue disorder...

Alright, enough grumbling about the doctors. I need to be off and playing with my kiddo :) Will try to remember to take lots of pictures at the beach today. Until then, enjoy the pictures!

Silly Noah day

I think Noah took his extra dose off silly pills today. He has been so darn goofy. He's talking non-stop (his own secret babble language that is, heck if I know what he's talking about 90% of the time. Some of it I can discern) Anyway, he's been in a particularly good mood all day and has just been silly.

The rash was completely gone as of this morning. I'm very glad - one less trip to any doctor is a plus in my book at this point. The Gatchel family is going to make it three whole weeks without having to see any physicians if things continue to go well ;-)

Coen and Miesje came and hung out for awhile this afternoon. Noah and Coen even sat and watched Finding Nemo for about 20 minutes. Noah probably would have watched longer, but it was snoozie time, so off for a nap with him. I totally do not believe in parking them in front of the TV and he really doesn't have a long enough attention span for it anyway, but every once in awhile it's OK. I've decided pre-nap is the best time for a bit of a movie :)

Alright, back to my projects and whatnot. I can't believe we're almost half way through August already. January is going to be here before I know it, I'm thinking... Until tomorrow, enjoy the pictures :)

BBQ's and Baby Showers

Sorry I've been MIA again for a few days. I know that you miss us when we're gone :) We had a good overall weekend here, and managed quite well except for the heat. I'm really looking forward to about November, I'm thinking. That's when everyone up north starts complaining about how cold it is, but we're still enjoying the 70's here. Yeah, that's sounding pretty good right about now... This heat index over 100 is just not bearable for any of us.

Saturday we had the majority of the gang over for a BBQ. The Florida Family has rapidly expanded in recent months, and inviting everyone to one place is no small feat anymore. I mean, we didn't have everyone, and there were 16 of us at our place on Saturday night! It was good to see everyone as we hadn't been around too much since before we had left on vacation.

Sunday we had Giselle's baby shower. It was fun to have some grown up girl time without the kiddo demanding constant attention. We had a mini tea party and just enjoyed each other's company for a few hours. I think before 2.0 shows up, I need to make a point of having some quiet just Mama time. I love the kiddo, but I know if I think it's hard getting a break with just one, it's going to be a long time before I'll be able to get a decent break with both of them :) Grant has gotten so good at being Daddy and having Daddy and Noah time, but I know his patience only holds out for so long, too.

I'm pretty sure, that as of when I got him up this morning, Noah has heat rash. Scared me quite a bit at first (thank goodness for the Mama being online!) but it's not spreading, can't think of anything else that would have caused it, and he doesn't seem to be in any pain, so according to WebMD, it can take a couple of days for it to go away completely. In the meantime, the kiddo is enjoying running around in just his diaper (which he has now of course figured out how to take off). He sees the pediatrician next week anyway for his 15 month check-up (15 months!!!!) so unless it doesn't clear up, I'm thinking we'll just mention it then. Right now, he's in the greatest mood, running around the house with Daddy and Bella.

Alright, off for the evening. Still have two projects going that I need to have finished by the end of them month. (This is me not holding my breath on that one) Until tomorrow, enjoy the pictures!

Duck Cleaning?

We just got back from a quick trip to check out the new Target that opened just a little north of us. I had been bummed out originally because I found out it wasn't a Super Target. Imagine my surprise when other than the full produce/bakery section, there are nearly as many groceries at this one as the Super Target up in Viera. YAY!!!! Given my history with obnoxious people at Wal-Mart, I'm all for going to Target ;-)

On our way home, we were driving behind a truck that I kid you not, on the back of it said "Duck Cleaning of Central Florida" followed by a phone number. Both Grant and I were amused. I'm assuming they meant 'duct' cleaning, and was sorely tempted to call the phone number to find out. Grant suggested telling them we were plum out of ducks, but we had a gaggle of geese that were in desperate need of a bath. Or even the peacocks over on Walden! I know it's not nice to laugh at other people, but I think you've got to at least advertise your business correctly if you plan on attracting any customers.

Noah's back to being a bit cranky today. I see a couple of teeth trying to pop through on the bottom, so I'm trying my best to just roll with it. I know he's uncomfortable, but it is definitely a test of my patience. He's not doing the screeching (thank goodness) it's just pretty much constant whining. I'm looking forward to bed time...

Got one of my projects finished, but still working hard on another. I unfortunately didn't get out the camera today, but hopefully will remember to tomorrow. Until then, you'll just have to be amused by my Duck Cleaning story ;-) Until tomorrow...

Back to Normal

Not much time to post tonight (I've got two projects I'm working on that have a rapidly approaching deadline...) but I wanted to get the promised pictures up at least.

Noah and I spent most of the day cleaning the house and doing the laundry. The kid is great at helping with the laundry! He likes to take things from the washing machine and put them in the dryer. Hey, one less step for Mama sounds good to me. He was also helping unpack the rest of the suitcases, that was... helpful... Mostly, the kiddo was good for the day which made the prospect of straightening up after vacation a little less daunting, at least.

Alright, like I said, off to work on my projects. You know it's big when I've even roped in Grant to help ;-) Pictures of both later this week hopefully. Until then; enjoy the pictures :)

How come this isn't working, Mom?

Introducing - Baby G 2.0!!!

And their feet!

Big feet for such a tiny baby, I'm thinking...

Anyone want to make a gender guess now?

It's A....

I thought I was going to have a great announcement to make today about whether we're having a Baby Jakob or a Baby Mikayla, but alas no such luck at my ultrasounds today. Baby G 2.0 was not cooperating.

But I've decided that in 4 weeks when I go back, I will be making the official announcement here on the blog. I have had such a good time creating this blog, maintaining it and sharing daily (sometimes ;-) ) that this is the perfect place to share the news. So you'll have to keep reading to find out more.

I do have some pictures of the kiddo to share, but they need to be scanned in and I am working from my laptop right now, so I will try to get those to share tomorrow. Until then....

Vacation in South Carolina

Our trip to South Carolina was wonderful. I cannot tell you how wonderful it was just to relax! It was wonderful to be with the family for awhile and just hang out.

The house we had was just outside of Lexington, SC (about half an hour from Columbia, SC) The house was absolutely gorgeous! There was a huge master bedroom downstairs, two bedrooms upstairs, a well equipped kitchen, a TV room on the main level and then a huge game room downstairs. We had plenty of books, games, video games, movies, and even air hockey to keep us occupied inside. Both the main level and the lower level had their own deck area with picnic tables, a grill upstairs and tons of chairs and the most wonderful hammock in the whole world. There was a long deck leading out to our own section of the lake, and it even had two kayaks and life jackets. Did I mention the house was great?

We spent a lot of time relaxing, reading, watching movies, sleeping, just being content doing nothing but hanging out. Noah had a lot of time hanging out with grandma (you have to check out the video of the Shell Game). Everyone (except me) even did some swimming and a few of us took the kayaks out. Even Noah went swimming and road in the kayak with Mama!

On Thursday we went to Charleston (about a two hour drive) for the day. We got to check out a lot of history and walk parts of the town. Sorry, no pictures for there, I was too busy trying not to melt. South Carolina is gorgeous, but it was HOT! and HUMID! I'd go back anyway, though ;-)

All in all, we had a great time. I was bummed to come home on Saturday and could have used about at least another week of just relaxing. We are really looking forward to next year...
