So today Grant came home at lunch so I could go to my appointment with the eye doctor. Considering it's been nearly seven years since I had my eyes looked at I figured I was way past due... Like usual, nothing went exactly as planned and I have a rant or two to share ;-)
1.) 3:00 does not mean 4:20.
I showed up fifteen minutes early as requested to fill out paperwork. Over an hour later I was finally taken back to an examining room.
2.) Dilating my eyes...
So the nurse tells me that she's going to put these drops in to dilate my eyes. OK, no biggie. She then tells me that everything will be really really bright for about four to six hours and I won't be able to read anything small for that amount of time as well, otherwise things should be "normal." I ask if it will be OK for me to drive. Sure, of course, no problem. Uh, I think not. Could I make out the other cars on the road, sure, but I couldn't tell you the speed I was driving at or read anything else on my dashboard. That wouldn't be a problem, would it? Plus, thank goodness I didn't get pulled over since I looked like some alien creature with huge eyes or that I'd just taken multiple illegal drugs, I'm sure.
3.) You're the doctor, not me
Apparently I have a slight astigmatism. Otherwise, I have great vision apparently. I told him that I have slight headaches after I've been on the computer for a long time or I get involved in reading, and that I spend quite a bit of time on the computer given that's the only way for me to do my job (:-p) So he says to me "well, glasses would probably help a bit, don't you think?" I don't know, that's what I'm paying you to tell me!
So long story short, I'm getting glasses for working on my computer and reading. The worst of it all; they won't be ready for about 3 weeks. Arrrgggg.....
When I got back, I fed the kiddo, then Grant offered to take me to Chili's for dinner. I took him up on the offer and it was nice to go out to dinner, sit and talk and let the kid play and entertain himself for awhile. We're continuing to have serious conversations about what's next for us as a family, and it was good to get out and chat about it again. Both of us really like Florida for the most part, but really dislike being far away from our families.
Alright, we might be going off to the Kunkle's to watch Grey's for the night, so I'm out of here. Hugs to all. Shell, hope you're feeling better. Sar, Grant says to tell you he's excited for you :) Everyone else, enjoy the pictures. Tomorrow night I may have pictures of the night shuttle launch if it's clear enough :) Also, while I'm thinking about it, as a "programming' note there will be no blog on Saturday since Grant and I will be at the Trans Siberian Orchestra concert :) Ok, this time I'm really off....
